Asbestos and Vermiculite
Vermiculite does not always contain asbestos, but in many cases it does. You can be exposed to asbestos through vermiculite products. The greatest asbestos health risk is to breathe it in.
Some ways to be exposed to vermiculite with asbestos in it is by agitating products containing it. It is important to remember that asbestos is not harmful if it is not disturbed. If you have an asbestos-contained vermiculite product problem, contact a professional to have it removed.
Most people with vermiculite products in their homes or work buildings are not being exposed to hazardous amounts of asbestos fibers and should not disturb it. Very little exposure means very little danger.
